Android lets you use animated wallpapers on the home screen and, on many phones, on the lock screen too. Menu names differ between brands, but the idea is always the same: pick a video, preview it and apply it.

Using a video wallpaper app

1. Download the wallpaper from this site to your phone.
2. Install a video wallpaper app from Google Play, or open the one that came with your phone.
3. Choose the downloaded video as the source and trim it if you want a shorter loop.
4. Preview it, then apply it to the home screen, the lock screen or both.

Save battery

• Pick a lower-resolution file if your phone has a small screen.
• Keep the loop short; long clips use more storage.
• Turn off sound for the wallpaper and allow the app to pause in battery saver mode.

Troubleshooting

If the wallpaper does not play after a restart, give the app permission to run in the background and exclude it from battery optimisation. If a file will not open, download it again on a stable connection.
