How to Set a Live Wallpaper on Windows 10 and 11
Windows does not play video wallpapers on its own, so you need a small wallpaper player app. Once it is installed, setting a live wallpaper from this site takes about a minute.
Option 1: Lively Wallpaper (free)
- Install Lively Wallpaper from the Microsoft Store or from its official website.
- Open Lively and press the plus button to add a wallpaper.
- Drag the video you downloaded into the window, or choose it with Browse.
- Select it in your library to apply it to the desktop.
Option 2: Wallpaper Engine (paid)
- Open Wallpaper Engine and go to Open Wallpaper, then Open from file.
- Pick the video file and confirm.
- Press OK to set it as your wallpaper. You can adjust scaling and playback speed in the settings.
Tips for smooth playback
- Choose a resolution that matches your screen. A 1080p screen does not need a 4K file.
- On a laptop, set the app to pause when the battery is low or when another app is full screen.
- If your PC feels slow, try a shorter or lower-resolution wallpaper. See the performance guide.
Troubleshooting
If the wallpaper shows a black screen, update your graphics driver and make sure the file finished downloading. If the video does not open, try converting it to MP4 with H.264.
